Out of water

Non-linear digital storytelling to explore the city of Los Angeles

Out of water is an experimental project that explores the possibilities of Web technologies for non-linear storytelling.

The experience guides the user in discovering the city of Los Angeles through the eyes of a foreigner with a vivid imagination: Andrea, an 8-year-old boy faces the sprawling city to get to the sea, accompanied by his inseparable goldfish Alfredo. The route runs on an interactive map enriched by the voice of Andrea, who recounts his journey in the new city. The user is invited to discover landscapes and characters that Andrea meets during his adventure and to build his personal vision and interpretation of each district.

After a phase of research and design, we created a working prototype with the collaboration of 20 audio/video professionals.
